Chesham Heritage Day

For the first time for many years the club participated in the bi-annual Chesham Heritage Day. As the third oldest tennis club in the country and the oldest in the county we have some heritage to talk about. Visitors to the town were able to visit historic sites throughout the town and we were the last stop on the trail.

Fi Bingham prepared an display of the club's history and historic documents, there was a small display on the history of squash and a display of the old wooden rackets versus their modern equivalents. Some members dressed in period costume to add to the occasion.

Jane MacBean the Chesham Mayor dropped in, saying that when she had more time she would love to come and play tennis with us.

All of the visitors and members learnt a lot about the history of the club before being tempted by an impressive array of freshly baked cakes and scones on offer.

Thank you to all who contributed to making this a great day.
